One Tree Hill
In 2003, at the age of 22, Bethany Joy Galeotti was cast in the WB network’s TV series One Tree Hill as “Haley Bob James”, the quintessential girl-next-door. About the same time she was cast, Bethany was once again using her birth name, Bethany Joy Lenz.
One Tree Hill became a favorite of young-adult-drama lovers (and lovers of basketball) over its nine seasons. The pilot premiered on September 23, 2003 and the series originally chronicled the high school lives of two half-brothers, Lucas Scott (played by Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (played by James Lafferty), their troubled relationship, basketball state championships, and the brothers’ budding relationships and love triangles with the show’s female characters.
Bethany Joy’s One Tree Hill character is a singer/songwriter (the perfect role!!) and a former high school tutor who grew up and currently lives in this fictional small town of Tree Hill, North Carolina. As the TV seasons passed, Haley became best friends with Lucas Scott, eventually married Lucas’ half-brother, Nathan Scott, and became the mother of James Lucas Scott and Lydia Bob Scott. Nathan and Haley experience many ups and downs together throughout the seasons but emerged as one of One Tree Hill’s supercouples.

The series premiered in 2003 to 2.5 million viewers and quickly grew in popularity to average 3.5 million weekly viewers. The second season was the highest rated in the series, averaging 4.3 million viewers every week. When the WB and UPN networks merged to form the CW network in 2006, “One Tree Hill” followed along to air on the new network.
In the 5th season, the show’s creator, Mark Schwahn, decided to jump the show more than four years forward to show the characters lives after college. In the 7th season, he adjusted the timeline 14 months into the future. One Tree Hill’s Chad Michael Murray won Teen Choice Awards in 2004 and 2008 for Choice Breakout TV Star – Male and Choice TV Actor: Drama, respectively.
Haley James Scott has displayed extreme loyalty to the people she holds close to her, particularly Lucas, Nathan and Brooke, but her first priority has always been her family. She does, however, have her own dreams to follow and wants to pursue her music interests, but finds it difficult to balance being a mother to her children and following her dreams as well as her husband’s life and constantly changing and moving career. After her mother’s death, Haley struggled with depression but her second pregnancy helped her to recover.

The “One Tree Hill” cast has changed a lot over the years, but Bethany Joy Galeotti has remained a favorite character throughout and is currently enjoying the show’s 9th and final season which will air on the CW network in January 2012.
